ASA 104 – Bareboat Cruising

This American Sailing Association Accredited course is the highest level course that we offer and allows you to skipper in the US and most popular sailing destinations in Europe. To take this course, you must have taken the Basic Keelboat Sailing Standard (ASA 101) and Basic Coastal Cruising Standard (ASA 103).

ASA 104 – Bareboat Cruising

 

Able to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered keelboat of approximately 30-45 feet in length in a multi-length cruise upon inland or coastal waters, in moderate to heavy winds and sea conditions

During our for-day  ASA 104 Course, you will learn:

  • Night Sailing

  • Galley Operations

  • Boat Systems

  • Auxiliary Engine Operation

  • Routine Maintenance Procedures

  • Advanced Sail Trim

  • Coastal Navigation

  • Multiple-anchor Mooring

  • Docking

  • Health and Safety

  • Emergency Operations

  • Weather Interpretation 

  • Dinghy/Tender Operation

    The course allows you to apply for ASA’s International Proficiency Certificate (IPC) which requires ASA101, ASA103 and ASA104.

    • The IPC allows you to skipper in the US and select *European countries.

Prerequisite

Basic Keelboat Sailing Standard (ASA 101) and Basic Coastal Cruising Standard (ASA 103). 

At least 80 hours of on water sailing experience which can be fulfilled with the ASA 101 and ASA 103 courses that we offer.

The First 36 is a very successful performance cruiser. It was voted Europe’s Performance Cruiser of the Year 2023. This is an attractive 35 or 38 foot sailing yachts with 3 cabins and 1 bathroom.  This is a top of the line fast cruising model with all the comforts and features to make learning fun and safe.  Features include: Roller furling sails, dodger and spry hood, anchor windlass, autopilot, radar, GPS, and color chartplotter.
